A Celebration of Tea: From China to

Shawn Schulte, tea expert for Stauff’s Coffee Roasters, will discuss
the origin and cultivation of tea in China and offer insights into its
fascinating journey to world-wide popularity. Tea tasting included.
Chinese Art at The Taft Museum of Art

View Chinese ceramics, masterworks of Ming dynasty furniture and
contemporary paintings by artists trained just after the Cultural
Revolution. Enjoy lunch on your own in the museum’s tea room.

Holiday Centerpiece Workshop

Instructor: Carol Bosch
Prepare for the holidays and add your own creative style with a
fashionable table centerpiece that will remain fresh throughout the
holidays. Candles and an array of white pine, holly, hemlock and

Traditions of Christmas Tours at the
Reese-Peters House

Bring the entire family for an interactive guided stroll through the
Christmas traditions and pastimes within the 1835 Reese-Peters House.
Hands-on activities during this tour will bring the past to life.

Join us on a trip to Granville to visit the elegant Greek Revival
landmark, the Avery-Downer House, dressed in holiday splendor. Following
the tour, enjoy lunch on your own at the historic Granville Inn. Space

Christmas in the Decade of the 1950s

Presented by Dr. George Johnson, Christmas author, scholar, collector
The decade of the 1950s comes to life as George Johnson, Ph.D.
recounts changes in the celebration of Christmas after WWII. Aluminum
trees, plastic ornaments and bubble lights were all the rage. Using
illustrations and artifacts, Dr. Johnson invites you to step back into
this memorable decade.
Family Holiday Evening in the Parlors
Friday, December 12
6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
$4 members / $6 non-members
Families are invited to step into the nineteenth century to enjoy an
evening of activities. Make pomander balls, toys and ornaments from the
past. Gather around the fireplace for a heart-warming reading of The
Night Before Christmas. Registration is required.
Victorian Ornament Workshop
Thursday, December 18

$12 members / $15 non-members
Instructor: Rebecca Dungan
We will admire the rare chromolithograph “scrap” ornaments on the
trees in the Reese-Peters House. Using these adornments as inspiration,
create three of your own Victorian ornaments.
