Experience Ohioan housewares, familiar and new, in a different light. 'Toast' the collection and meet special guests Victoria Matranga, exhibition curator, an Terry Fife.

From washboards to barbecue grills, Ohio's contributions to twentiethcentury products for the home will surprise you. This exhibition offers a fresh look at the everyday objects that surround us. See the beauty of and the invention behind toasters, fans, coffee percolators, and vacuum cleaners created in Ohio.

These appliances will bring back memories for the older generations and inspire the curiosity of youngsters. Share family stories as you think about how appliances figure in your life. Learn how appliances respond to cultural trends and reflect fashions of the times to become icons in the American home.

The exhibition runs through August 22, 2004. Admission is free and open to the public. Curated by Victoria Matranga with the assistance of Loyola University Chicago Public History graduate program and History Works, Inc.

Center Hours: Tuesday- Sunday 1:00-4:00 p.m. Sponsored in part by the David Johns Family. The Center will gratefully accept donations of discarded appliances and parts for use in educational programs related to the exhibition.
