An Ohio Childhood: 200 Years of Growing Up
Photographs, Paintings, Books, Toys on Being a Kid in Ohio
September 10 – December 31, 2016
An Ohio Childhood: 200 Years of Growing Up, presented by PNC Arts Alive, illustrates the evolution of Ohio childhood from the frontier period to today. The exhibition will include fascinating photographs, paintings, textiles, books, toys and more! Interactive elements, providing a fun and engaging environment, make this an ideal museum experience for children and their families, as well as seasoned museum visitors.
Hands-on activities include: draw and color with Prang crayons and Etch A Sketch (both items originally manufactured in Ohio); interact with exhibition objects in augmented reality through iPads; write your own gallery label; pose for selfies with life-size reproductions of exhibition photographs and paintings, and post to the Decorative Arts Center’s Facebook page. An app, specially designed for the exhibition, will offer visitors additional enrichment and chances to win prizes.
