Circular Abstractions: Bull’s Eye Quilts
51 Quilts Designed Around the Bull’s Eye Pattern
February 4 – April 23, 2017
The Decorative Arts Center of Ohio, in partnership with the Muskegon Museum of Art, Muskegon, Michigan and guest curator Nancy Crow, is proud to present Circular Abstractions: Bull’s Eye Quilts, an exhibition showcasing some of the best machine pieced quilts done today.
This juried, invitational exhibition features 51 quilts by artists who improvise around the bull’s eye pattern—a four quadrant design with a bull’s eye at the center of each quarter. Color and design become the focus of a dazzling array of quilts inspired by the innovations of legendary fine art quilt-maker Nancy Crow. The artists were challenged to create artworks that stretch the possibilities of the machine-pieced quilt and convey a sense of energy and excitement. Artists from across the United States, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Canada were selected by Nancy Crow for this exhibition
