The Decorative Arts Center of Ohio is proud to present sculpture and paintings by James Mason and encaustics and oils by Karen Rumora. His six decades of meeting the creative challenges of the changing art world and her shifts between realism and intense abstraction each represent nature as mercurial and inevitable.

As a postmodern sculptor, Mr. Mason honors the creativity inherent in art and gives a glimpse into his passion as an artist. His explosion of inspiration is evidenced by his bronze work and his sensual yet traditional treatment of wood. His work has that trait unique to the best sculptors: from differing angles it continually yields a new feeling, another interpretation.

Ms. Rumora’s mediums are encaustics and oils, and her color-saturated landscapes radiate serene solitude. Evocative of the old and new, the past and future, her brushstrokes enliven her subjects while evoking environmental chaos and creation as shelter. She, like Mr. Mason, blurs contemporary and traditional boundaries.
