Woven Arts:

Baskets and Weavings from Ohio Collections

February 1-May 26, 2002

Curators JoAnn Stevens, formerly director of the Ohio Craft Museum, and Steph Stahl, of the Decorative Arts Center, have gathered together a rich selection of woven arts from different times and cultures to delight the eye and stimulate thought about one of the oldest human crafts.

The exhibition focuses on works from Native American peoples, Africa, Mexico and the Philippines as well as examples of traditional American styles from the past that continue to be created today.  Finally, visitors will have the opportunity to see how contemporary artists have been inspired by the traditional, woven arts.
