Paul Patton

12/23/2021

Paul Patton
1921-1999
Rix Mills, Muskingum County

Patton grew up in a rural village in southeastern Ohio with his widowed mother and five siblings. Like so many, he grew up and left, serving as a B-17 pilot during WWII and then as a career educator in the Cleveland area. Later in life, Patton returned to his hometown, which by then was a shadow of what it had been. Strip mining had greatly changed the area. With no training, he began to paint, putting his childhood memories on canvas. Patton produced over 500 paintings depicting a time and place gone by.
