Hours & Admission

We will be following CDC protocols and state health orders. Face masks are welcome during your visit to the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio. Social distance will be maintained and visitor numbers monitored. Thank you for helping protect our visitors, volunteers, and staff! 

Wednesday-Friday
11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Saturday-Sunday
1 p.m. to 4 p.m.


ADMISSION IS FREE!
Donations are gratefully accepted. 
Group tours are available for $5 per person and include a dedicated docent and shop coupon.
 Please call Judith at 740-681-1423 to schedule.

Office Hours:
Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.


Accessible parking and entrance are located off Bank Alley on the Northeast corner of the property. All floors accessible by elevator. 


Safety and Cleaning Protocols
  • If you are experiencing signs of illness, cough, difficulty breathing, fever etc, or have had contact with a person with Covid-19, please do not enter the Museum at this time.
  • Face masks are welcomed during your visit to the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio. Single use masks are available free of charge inside the lobby. Thank you for helping protect our visitors, volunteers, and staff! 
  • If there are guests in the lobby, please wait outside before entering.
  • Number of guests inside the Museum, at any one time, is limited. You may be asked to wait before entering the lobby.
  • We ask that you observe social distancing (six feet apart) while in the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio.
  • Hand sanitizer is available throughout the Museum.
  • The Museum has updated cleaning protocols and upgraded our HVAC system.

Pre-Visit Activities for Your Class

  • ​Print one of our pre-visit worksheets and use it with your students to generate interest in your upcoming trip.
  • Museum Chart (see Attachment)
  • In the Art Museum•    Ask students to write down questions they may have and bring them along so they can ask a Museum Educator.
  • Explore this website to generate excitement about the trip.
  • Suggest some books to familiarize students with art and artists in general, and artists from the Museum's collections in particular. Here are some re. Childhood and history for the exhibition “An Ohio Childhood”
  • Ruby Bridges Goes to School by Ruby Bridges
  • Clothes 100 years ago by Allison Lassieur
  • Divide the class into small research groups to develop how they think childhood is the same and different from 100 years ago, 200 years ago. Have students interview family members or older family friends about their childhood.

Post Visit Activities for Your Class

  • Print one of our post-visit worksheets and use it with your students to reflect upon your experiences.
  • Memory Drawings (attached)
  • Write their experiences at the Museum in a journal using language and/or images.
  • Send examples of students' reactions to their Museum visit, such as drawings or letters, to the Director of Education.
  • Review the pre-visit experience chart to see which predictions were true and what new ideas students learned.
  • Create a class mural about the trip by passing around a large sheet of paper so students can write or sketch their impressions of the trip.
  • Have students research any issues or questions that came up during their tour.
  • Talk to other educators about the visit, and think about how the Museum can be used as a resource to enhance classroom learning.
  • Ask students to tell their parents about their trip to the Museum. Suggest they return to the Museum with their families and remind them that admission is always free.
