During the weekend of July 8th -9 th we will be hosting, Celebrating Women’s Voices through Art and Expression, an event that explores the lives of creative women through the arts. This amazing event includes art discussions, poetry readings, and workshops, all meant to engage and inspire our audience.
On Saturday July 8th, our keynote speaker will be art historian Carol Boram-Hays, Ph.D. Carol will speak about women’s roles and contributions in the history of art. Also on Saturday, two talented and award winning poets, Ruth Awad and Shameaca Moore will perform their own works. We will also have an artist discussion with Leslie Shiels, who is one of the painters in our current exhibition, Three Voices: Conversations on Life and Conflict.
On Sunday July 9th , Leslie Shiels, Valerie Cumming, and Jennifer Evans Kinsley will guide our attendees through workshops exhibiting their own artistic specialties. These workshops require zero experience and will teach the attendees about painting, creative writing, and artistic book binding.
