This past weekend the Decorative Arts Center was a part of Destination Downtown’s annual Walk-A-Bout. Walk-A-Bout is an event where families can walk through the different museums downtown and participate in activities at each location. Our activity invited visitors to create a beautiful cityscapes using stencils and chalk. The visitors were able to create their own piece of art, as well as contribute to a large cityscape mural. Visitors also took the time to walk through our current exhibition Three Voices: Conversations on Life and Conflict. Megan Taylor, who was in charge of the art activity, said, “It was really fun to have several groups of kids coming through, and how they all did the projects differently, as well as all the families, which really showed me a sense of community.” This event was also the perfect opportunity for visitors to learn more about the art education program and opportunities we provide.
