Our current exhibition, An Ohio Childhood: 200 Years Of Growing Up, is family friendly that has hands-on activities designed for Ohio children. Co-curator, Andrew Richmond says, "it showcases the evolution of Ohio childhood from the frontier era to today, & uses photographs, paintings, textiles, books and other items to do so. It's a great way to integrate the whole family into an arts event." "It's an exhibition for kids and it's in part designed for kids. It's a great way to get kids thinking about and interacting with arts and decorative arts in a way that they haven't before," says Richmond. We're all still kids at heart after all, aren't we?
An Ohio Childhood: 200 Years Growing Up is on display at the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio until December 31st, 2016. Share your photos with us on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram! We hope you were able to join in on the discussion, "Museums as Creative Spaces" if not, here's our feed: Make sure you're following us on Twitter so that you can participate in the next discussion.
Thank you to Ohio Museums Association and EWC Media for facilitating. Posted on September 14, 2016 by Johnna McEnteeThe Ohio Museums Association (@OhioMuseums) is proud to partner with EWC Media (@ewc_media) for our August #OHMuseumChat – Thursday, September 15 at noon on Twitter!
This month, our topic is “Museums as Creative Spaces.” Joining us will be special guests Tricia Clifford Sprouse from the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio–@DiscoverDACO, Erik Pepple from OSU Urban Art Space – @UrbanArtSpace, David Wion from theTroy Hayner Cultural Center – @HaynerCenter, and other museum professionals from across the state! Haven’t participated in one of our #OHMuseumChat‘s before? No problem! It’s easy to join the conversation! So what exactly is a twitter chat? A twitter chat is a live event focused around a single conversation hashtag – in our case,#OHMuseumChat. Our chat will use twitter as a means to connect museum professionals across Ohio (and perhaps, beyond!) for a relaxed and informal discussion on whatever our monthly topic is – which, for September is “Museums as Creative Spaces.” Participating is easy! All you need to do to participate in the #OHMuseumChat is log on to twitter by noon on Thursday, September 15 and search #OHMuseumChat. Then, you can join the conversation by adding #OHMuseumChat to your tweets! It’s that simple! As this month’s chat is focused on the creative spaces at museums, we encourage you to bring your questions for our expert guest panelists! Take advantage of their expertise, and learn more about this topic! Be sure to bring your questions for our expert guest panelists! Be sure to follow OMA on twitter – @OhioMuseums for all the latest updates from the Ohio Museums Association, and don’t forget to follow #OHMuseumChat for the full September discussion as it happens. Bring your ideas, questions and best practices for a lively and inspiring conversation with colleagues from across the state to the #OHMuseumChat, Thursday, September 15 at noon! We hope you can join us! This was originally posted on Ohio Museums Association on September 14, 2016. Our NEW exhibition opens tomorrow! We're so excited, we've been anticipating this for awhile! We've taken to asking our friends on Facebook and our Twitter followers about their favorite childhood memories, and if they have them- memories from their Ohio childhood, check them out! We're so excited for people to relive their childhood memories, by sharing with us. We can't wait for children to see this exhibition, because it truly is 200 years of growing up!
